Popcorn and Lunch

Lisa put together really nice bags for the out of town guests.  They included four bottles of local root beer, cow pies (like a turtle) from the Baraboo candy Company and this amazing popcorn.

Rural Route 1 has the most amazing caramel corn.  Ever.  It’s located in Livingston, Wisconsin and is really off the beaten path.  My dad traveled a lot for his job and would stop here from time to time and bring us home some caramel corn.  Lisa and I had never been there in person before, so it was fun to make the one hour drive.  I expected kind of a factory store, but instead it’s like a gift shop!  A really big gift shop with a little popcorn area.  We looked at all of the things we didn’t need to buy and then purchased a ton of popcorn.  Caramel mixed with cheese, so yummy!!

I asked the woman who helped us (so not helpful) where she recommended for lunch.  Both she and the local woman in to buy plain popcorn recommended the bowling alley.  So that’s where we went.

I had shrimp which they lightly breaded there, cowboy potatoes (baked hash browns with cheese), and the salad bar.  Also dessert – the salad bar had rice krispies and brownies on it, too!  I could have had chili too, but that was a bit much.  All of that for under $9!  My sister had some sort of steak sandwich in a pita and a salad bar and soda for about the same price.  Great food for a reasonable price.  And our left overs fed us for another meal.  Gotta love that.  And the best part?  The fun, sunny, afternoon with my sister!

Today’s Treasure

I about fell over when I saw this on top of the bookcase in my room.  I know I was an AmeriCorps member at Emerald Youth Foundation, but I have zero recollection of receiving a certificate of urban youth work.  So strange!  Especially because I got it towards the end of the year, not at the beginning after all of our training.  I wonder what I had to do to earn it?  And did everyone receive one?  After the photograph was taken it hit the trash.  I won’t be hanging this up anywhere..,I did not leave on the best of terms…
